Intercessory Prayer and Vigil
James 5:16b The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
Intercessory Prayer is praying with the real hope and real intent that God would step in and act for the positive advancement of some specific other person(s). We are righteous only through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, but then God moves us to intercede on behalf of others, praying that God’s will be done in their lives, generally, and in specific situations.
Vigil (Watching) is abstaining from sleep while seeking to watch and wait upon the Lord obediently in prayer and intercession for God’s will to be done—standing watch for the protection and blessing of God’s people.
