On one occasion, while [Jesus] was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” – Acts 1:4-5 (NIV)

The purpose of waiting on God may be to learn greater patience, or it may be to allow time for us to get ready for God’s next step in our lives. What needs to happen to you—in your life, in your mind, in your soul—to become ready to be acted upon by the Spirit? Pray and listen to God today, and act on what God reveals to you.
