Praying for Enemies
Luke 6:27-36 “But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies! Do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you….”
Intercessory prayer—praying for God to show up in our own or others’ lives—is important and powerful. But especially powerful is Jesus’ direction to pray for our enemies. This is the ultimate recalibration of our lives to God’s will. It acknowledges that our true enemies are not those of flesh and blood but those spiritual forces that seek to destroy both us and our human enemies. So let’s pray even for those who mistreat us—let’s pray for everyone.
